+ Intown Retreat

A new home for an empty nester couple was designed as a mountain retreat, but in a convenient, established neighborhood.    The sloping lot was conducive to a daylit lower level, but all functions needed for day-to-day living are accommodated on the main floor.   Doors were made wide and the entire main level has no steps or grade changes to accommodate “aging-in-place” for the long-term.   A rich mix of stone, siding and shingles compose an informal exterior with abundant windows to maximize daylight.   Two tall window bays connect the interior great room to an expansive raised porch with views of the creek and woods beyond.
